General Information, Gates, and Access at San Juan Airport Terminal B

Terminal B at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport hosts the central check-in counters for all major full-service carriers operating at SJU, handling a mix of domestic and international routes. Even passengers whose gate is located in Concourse C or D will check in at Terminal B before heading to their departure area.

Terminal B at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport features gates B2–B10 and primarily serves:

  • S. Airlines: American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines
  • Latin American Carriers: Copa Airlines (Panama City hub)

Gates & Layout

Terminal B features gates B2-B10 (9 gates), reached after the main security checkpoint on the second floor:

  • Gates B2-B6 - Handle the majority of Southwest, American, and Delta domestic departures.
  • Gates B7-B10 - Serve United, Spirit, and Copa Airlines' flights to Panama City.

Note: Gate assignments at SJU are subject to change based on flight schedules. Always confirm your gate at the departure information screens or with your airline.

Pre-Security Area (Check-in & Documentation)

  • Central ticketing and check-in counters for Terminal B, C, and D.
  • Currency exchange kiosk (open daily, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM).
  • Quick-service dining and coffee options.
  • Information desks with multilingual staff.
  • Luggage wrapping and protection services.

Post-Security Area (Boarding Area)

  • Duty-free shopping: Perfumes, cosmetics, spirits, and local Puerto Rican rum.
  • Local souvenirs: Puerto Rican crafts, coffee, and apparel.
  • Food and beverage outlets, including the main food court and retail plaza connected to Terminal B.
  • Escape Lounge (Priority Pass / LoungeKey): Located opposite Gate B2. Open daily 6:00 AM–9:00 PM. Amenities include comfortable seating, complimentary snacks and beverages, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, flight information monitors, and shower facilities (the only public showers at SJU).

Immigration & Customs

  • Domestic Arrivals (from the U.S. mainland): No passport or customs declaration required, treated the same as any domestic U.S. flight.
  • International Arrivals: Standard U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) screening applies, processed between Concourses C and D for flights arriving from outside the United States.
  • All international passengers must carry a valid passport, along with an approved ESTA or U.S. visa if applicable.
  • Departing passengers headed to the U.S. mainland pass through a routine USDA agricultural inspection.

Access & Connectivity

  • Terminal B connects directly to Terminal A outside the secure area near the ticketing desks (no shuttle required).
  • Beyond the main security checkpoint, Terminal B branches into Concourses B, C, and D, all connected by covered walkways.
  • Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal, no password required.
  • Charging stations: Power outlets and USB charging points near seating areas, with natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows.
  • Parking: Short-term and long-term parking directly accessible from Terminal B.
  • A pet relief area is located opposite Gate B2.

Ground Transportation from Terminal B

  • Official airport taxis (authorized, fixed-rate service, available 24/7).
  • Private transfers and pre-booked San Juan Airport Transportation.
  • Ride-hailing apps: Uber and Lyft available directly outside the terminal exits.
  • Public buses: The D53 route stops on the upper-level roadway outside Terminal B, connecting to Condado (Ashford Ave.).
  • Car rental agencies: Centralized rental car facility on the first floor, directly across from baggage claim.
